An anonymous user sent me this message (who is obviously pissed off)
There is a serious call/phone bug in Gingerbread, but unless the media report a bug (e.g. remember the text messaging bug), it gets ignored by ******* (all capital letters) google. A phone that can’t make calls.
*** is wrong with Google?
They do this with all issues - really is starting to tick me off.https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=15297#c105
I think customers got disappointed for good reasons.
#1, this happens to Nexus One, one of Google’s official Android phones. Regardless of the fragmentation issue, at least this device should be thoroughly tested.
#2, this is a significant issue but Google’s employee chose to decline this issue and let users go to a different forum. This is not good. Even if this issue should be handled by different teams in Google, they should pass the information quickly themselves, instead of just kicking the ball back to users.
Finally, after one and half months of users griping and some media attention, someone in Google passed the information along:
Hi everyone,
Here’s a rundown of the poll, as promised:
- 82% experience issues on incoming calls
- 46% experience issues on outgoing calls
- 67% are on Nexus One
Thanks for filling out the form! I passed the results along.
This comment tells what users think of this:
Wow Google, you are really letting us N1 owners down here. And to think I shelled out $500+ for a device that I couldn’t test in stores because I believed in Google and wanted to support you. Now I have a phone with touchscreen that has severe multitouch problems **and** can’t preform the basic functions of a phone; to make and receive calls. It’s really disappointing that a fix hasn’t been released for the phone issue as it used to work fine. Hopefully a fix is released soon, fingers crossed!
Android, you didn’t handle this well.
