JR Raphael lists five bad apps from five big tech players, including Facebook, Netflix, Skype, Instapaper, and, believe it or not, Google again.
I also wrote about Facebook on Android a while ago for its horrible looking and lack of functionalities. JR mentioned a reasonable alternative - Facebook mobile website.
Talking about Netflix, there was no video streaming for a long time on Android and even now, it only works on five devices. It doesn’t seem to matter to Netflix fans whether Android has 100 or 200 different devices.
Skype still has its bad looking and NO video chatting on Android. It’s probably safe to bet Facebook video chatting will come to iOS first as well.
Instapaper is not as “big” as other players mentioned in this article, but it’s one of my favorite web services. It does not have Android app at all. Twitter on Android does not integrate with Instapaper either, which is a pain in the butt for me.
Last but not least, Google Calendar. I myself has never used Google Calendar on Android. But what I can tell is that Google Calendar does work well with iCal on iPhone, so it’s safe to switch if you cannot stand Android any more :-)
